Letter To The CWA
How are we feeling about our children’s and grandchildren’s future? Are we worried? Are we doing anything, big or small, that we can show to the world and say: ‘Here’s something I’m doing that I’m proud of.‘ Or more bravely: ‘Here’s something I need to do better.’ ??
I am Shirley, or Baglady, Lewis, originally from Ireland but now resident in Katoomba. On October 18, I was guest speaker at the Blue Mountains CWA conference. Dressed in my plastic bag costume, I told members about Living ASAP = As Sustainably As Possible, which is 1] pretty easy once you think about it and 2] absolutely vital for our children and grandchildren’s future. It’s about showing respect for everyone and everything.
I told delegates about my recent visit to Queensland, where I met students and teachers from dozens of schools, who are doing beautiful work in sustainability. So many of us are on the right track, we just need to know that others care too. And are spreading the message, sharing the skills. Cos our generations have lost them. Or, almost lost them.
I was glad that a number of members showed interest in following up with me on what was said, that day. But time is of the essence now.
So I’m calling on all CWA members – grandmothers, mothers, aunties and elders – to please join Baglady, Friends & Family in Living ASAP. To do this, all you have to do is – from November 25 – go to our new website: FutureASAP.com or facebook.com/futureASAP where you can read some GOOD news, of what we’re up to.
There has never been a more important time for all of us women to get together. Thank you.
